May 23-6 saw the Rampage SR Motorsport, Ocean Independence sponsored Subaru taking part in the worlds biggest race .. 220 Touring cars on the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife. In the highly competitive SP3 t class, the team faced competition from Opel, VW and Subaru factory cars...
Qualifying was a nightmare with the race engine destroyed from a faulty component and a stock engine having to be fitted for the race. With a lowly grid position of 125th and 30 th in class , running with 150bhp less than usual, the team were praying for rain...
The rain never came but nor did any other problems and with consistent lapping the 3 drivers of Mike and Chris Rimmer with Nick Barrow worked through the 24 hours to finish 38th overall and a trophy laden 6th in class.
Without the incredible skills and hard work of SR Motorsport and the rest of the team, most would have packed up on the Friday. The result is a tribute to them all.
The race engine will now be rebuilt, getting the car back to its 450 bhp which means lapping some 30 seconds per lap quicker on July 19th at the Nurburgring Nordschleife 6 hr race. Australian Ring legend, Llynden the Ring Riethmuller flies in from Australia for the race..
